Lawyer, senior executive and policymaker with more than 20 years of experience in defense of the rights of nature, rights of indigenous people, climate justice, and socio-environmental safeguards.

Demonstrated leadership skills to facilitate dialogue and consensus with private, civil society organizations and public sector. Expert in international cooperation, fundraising, forest governance, forest certification, protected areas, and management of projects for international agencies and governments. Facilitator and leader of multicultural and multidisciplinary teams in complex environments and coalitions.

Braulio Buendía

Braulio Buendía

Vicepresident and Director of Conservation Program

Braulio has 20 years of experience in the administration, management and control of forests in the public and private sectors, cooperation and Amazonian indigenous communities. He is an engineer in renewable natural resources, Master in Forest Resources Conservation, with PhD studies in environmental project management.

He has been a director and coordinator of projects in Peru and countries of the Amazon basin financed with funds from the European Union, USAID, NORAD, World Bank, IDB, among others. International consultant in forest governance and empowerment of capacities mainly in indigenous peoples. Manager of the concept and implementation of the Indigenous and Community Forestry Oversight System in Peru and its scaling up in Latin American countries.

He is currently the Regional Coordinator of the Amazonía 2.0 project implemented in 6 Amazonian countries with funds from the European Union, implementing the regional platform for the management of community forests.

Elaine Hsiao

Elaine Hsiao

Elaine Hsiao is an interdisciplinary socio-legal scholar, specializing in transboundary conservation areas, conflict, and environmental peacebuilding. Her research integrates critical legal studies and political ecology with security, peace and conflict studies in the context of conservation. She has helped provide legal frameworks for transboundary parks for peace, developed a service-learning expedition in Parque Internacional La Amistad, co-directed/produced a documentary film for “Transcending Boundaries,” consulted on cross-border protected areas publications and projects, and passed resolutions on the environment, peace and conflict at IUCN and WILD Congresses. She was a representative of the Small Island Developing State, the Union of Comoros, at the UNGA in climate change and environmental issues, and received a Fulbright to Uganda (2010-2011).

Elaine/Lan Yin completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) and holds a JD and LLM in International Law and Environmental Law from Pace Law School, where she remains a Fellow, Specializing in Protected Areas at the Pace Global Center for Environmental Legal Studies (GCELS).

Bryan Aguilar

Bryan has over five years of experience as a tourism, refugee, public policy, social entrepreneurship and business development specialist. He has worked with several Indigenous communities in Ecuador, providing management support, technical assistance, training, and capacity-building help.

He holds a degree in Ecotourism and a Master’s degree in Public Policy. Currently, he works as Nunamaisha’s Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer, overseeing 5 community projects which include rural, women and Indigenous communities as well as overseeing daily operations.

Verónica Dávila

Verónica Dávila

Director of Bioeconomy, Women and Family Program

Verónica has over five years of experience as a project and budgeting specialist. She has worked with public and private enterprises in Ecuador, providing financial and management support, technical assistance and project analysis.

She holds a degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Environmental Economics. Currently, she works as Nunamaisha’s Director of Bioeconomy, Women and Family Program

Guisell Muro

Guisell Muro

Director of Communications

Guisell is Peruvian; she has more than ten years of experience in strategic communication and public advocacy with intercultural, gender, and environmental approaches.

He has been working her whole career on designing and implementing social communication and public advocacy plans and campaigns for NGOs and companies.

He has held executive management positions adviser for indigenous organizations, public institutions, NGOs, international organizations, and private entities.

Fundraising and Proposals

Environmental Engineer specialized in climate change, focusing on mitigation,
adaptation, and climate finance. She has extensive knowledge of climate finance and environmental and social risk management system for financial institutions. She is a Scholarship holder for the Leadership, Climate Change, and Cities Specialization at FLACSO Ecuador.
